Ballet, Etc. was founded and is owned by Mary E. Warnke. Ballet, etc. is a clean, safe environment for students to learn and are encouraged to excellence. Ballet, etc. will always have modest, non-compromising costuming with clean dance moves and music. The music used in class and performance will be classical or other fun, upbeat, and clean pop, rock, contemporary Christian, hip-hop/rap, and country songs.

Staff:

Mary Warnke began studying dance at age 2. She has been trained in ballet, tap, jazz, pointe, hip-hop, modern, and lyrical. She privately studied tap (her favorite style!) with tap master Jeremy K, who is a protégé of the famous tap master Dr. James “Buster” Brown, a member of the Copasetics. After studying with Jeremy K for several years, Mary won many trophies, medals and ribbons in tap and hip-hop at dance competitions throughout the Southeast. She ended her dance training by studying with the Atlanta Ballet and performing in the “Nutcracker” at the Fox Theatre. Mary also has taught and tutored children from ages 2-18 over the years in everything from all the major academic subjects to Sunday School at church and of course, dance. She has a deep love of dance, teaching, and children, and is now putting them all together by teaching the students of Ballet, etc.

Anna Warnke started her dance training at age 5. She took ballet, tap, and jazz, eventually branching into modern, lyrical, hoofing, pointe, hip-hop, and Pilates. After studying privately under tap master Jeremy K., Anna went on to compete and won several awards, including 6th Place Senior Soloist in Rising Star National Talent Competition. Anna started teaching when she was 18, teaching jazz, tap, lyrical, and substituting for hip-hop and ballet. Soon after, she started studying Pilates and became a substitute teacher at a Pilates studio. Anna has been a private tutor for 4 years, teaching younger children in all subjects and high schoolers in math. She is pursuing a BA in Social Sciences from Thomas Edison State College. Anna is excited to be teaching Pilates and dance at Ballet, etc.

John Warnke has studied dance for a number of years (proving that yes, guys can take dance class!). He was trained in ballet, tap, jazz and hip-hop. John privately studied with tap master Jeremy K for several years during which time he had to take time off to recover from an injury. But that didn’t stop John. He went on to win many awards with his tap dancing being named “Teen Mr. Dance” of Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, and Tennessee. John also was a Toy Soldier in the Atlanta Ballet’s “Nutcracker” at the Fox Theatre. John is now our tech guy at Ballet, etc. and works the office. We are happy that he is now teaching our “Tap for Guys” class.

Sam Warnke is the banjo instructor for Ballet, etc. He has been playing the banjo since the age of ten and has performed locally at several venues, including the Moonshine Festival and the Cumming Playhouse. He has also played onstage with Little Roy Lewis of the Lewis Family, and Lizzie Long, who is a protégé of Earl Scruggs, of “Flatt and Scruggs and the Foggy Mountain Boys” fame. After meeting Lizzie Long when he was twelve, she called up Earl Scruggs on the phone so that Earl could talk with Sam!  While that was his most exciting banjo moment, his proudest banjo accomplishment was being named 3rd place Banjo Champion of Georgia at the Hiawasee competition in 2010. Most recently Sam was named 2nd place Finger-Style Guitar Champion of Georgia. Sam is happy to share his new found love of guitar with his students while also continuing to teach his old love of Bluegrass Banjo at Ballet, etc.
